China unveils insane 3,000 hp electric beast
According to the filing with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China's BYD is preparing to launch a new version of its 3,019-horsepower electric supercar, the Yangwang U9 Track Edition. The company has already shocked the world by releasing a previous version of the car.
Electrek reported it.
Main characteristics
When a carmaker releases a track-spec version of a car, it typically tweaks the bodywork to improve aerodynamics, add downforce, and often includes bigger brakes. But the Yangwang U9 Track Edition goes a lot further.
Equipped with four upgraded electric motors, the supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds.
The document states that BYD has upgraded the motors on each wheel to 555 kW units (total power 2,220 kW, 3,019 hp).
A few features
Standard features:
- 20-inch wheels with 325/35 R20 tires.
- Carbon roof.
- Large fixed carbon fiber rear wing.
- Rear diffuser with adjustable blades for optimized aerodynamics.
Additional aerodynamic details:
- Standard or upgraded carbon fiber front splitter.
- Electric rear wing.
Many of the performance specs aren't included in the MIIT documentation, so it'll be interesting to see when BYD officially reveals just how much performance the supercar can actually achieve.
